An original Jon Gordon email newsletter from March 2004… It was a profound moment. His name was George and he was a bus driver. George was taking me and a few other men to the Denver airport from the rental car lot. He had a smile on his face the entire time. He told us jokes. He laughed at ours. When I got off the bus I had to ask him the question. I had to ask it for myself. For you. For the people I coach. As I sat at …
You get to choose
“… Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose.” – Wayne Dyer How you frame your circumstances leads to how you live your life. Problems can be opportunities or insurmountable barriers – you decide. How you frame your challenges leads to the goals you set, the plans you follow, the cascade of actions and next steps you pursue. The challenge is to design a life, to create meaning, in spite of what shows up. It starts with how you frame, or reframe, your circumstances. The post You get to
An Indirect Approach to Happiness
One of the most common mistakes we can make in dealing with others is to assume that they share the same view of reality as we do. The truth is we all represent our experiences, real or imagined, according to our own specialized vantage point. We could go through the same exact experience with ten other people and each person would have their own version of what happened. Does that mean that we are the only one who sees things accurately…
Preparing for Your Life’s Work
I've discussed finding our lives' respective purposes and what-not in many other posts, but for the interests of this blog post, I wanted to share a little bit in regards to how we naturally prepare for the work that we are here to do. On one level, we are all very ingenious and creative people who naturally can use past experiences and talents to create something in this moment. It will always be a unique creation as we are ourselves are always a unique creation in any giving moment as we are also constantly changing. So the work that we do in one …
Retreat and Conference and Workshop
The women’s retreat was postponed due to problems with the venues. I am looking at alternative places and dates. October is, I have found, the most popular month for weddings (I thought it was June). I am hoping to secure a monastery setting or something very serene and peaceful. Though we achieved that last year
7 Recently-Discovered ‘Healing’ Effects of Music
Music is a big part of our life. It makes the gym workouts go faster. It helps to set the mood for a party. It serves as a perfect ‘excuse’ for the times when you don’t feel like chatting with passengers in your car. A beautiful melody can give us chills. It can remind us of the brightest memories of our life. It can help us relax after a…
Quotes of Wisdom: Ayn Rand on the Tyranny of Government
Instead of being a protector of man’s rights, the government is becoming their most dangerous violator; instead of guarding freedom the government is establishing slavery; instead of protecting men from the initiators of physical force, the government is initiating physical force and coercion in any manner and issue it pleases; instead of serving as the … Related posts: Quotes of Wisdom: H.L. Climb that Mountain
An original Jon Gordon email newsletter from September 2006… I was riding my mountain bike the other day with my three year old son in the child’s seat. As we rode along the edge of the TPC golf course we noticed a boy running up and down these three little hills on the edge of the golf course. I knew what was coming next. My son said “Daddy, I want to run up the hill.” So, I stopped the bike, helped him get out of the seat and said, “Go ahead and climb that hill.” He stood at the bottom looking at the hill. To him I could tell it seemed like a …
Renew the flow
“Examine any blocks that might be stopping the flow of abundance in your life.” Is there an issue, an attitude, a habit or behavior that needs to change? Is there a lesson to be learned and applied? You can’t squeeze abundance into your life, you can only receive and accept. But to receive and accept, you must create the condition of receptivity and gratitude. In times of difficulty, become mindful of what may be blocking the flow of abundance in your life. In times of difficulty, commit to change. In times of difficulty, take on the attitude of gratitude, and pursue the actions to renew and reopen the flow. The post Renew the flow appeared first on Healthy Mind
The Butterfly Project
A couple of years ago, an anonymous person on Omegle sent me a photo and asked me to share it. It was a low quality photo of The Butterfly Project, explaining what the project is about and its rules. I instantly fell in love with the idea, and I started googling and reading more about it. I found its facebook page, which had a poor profile picture and no cover. So I made the photos above and below and sent them to the page’s admin in a private message. The facebook page isn’t active much anymore, but the presence of The Butterfly Project…

Of course there are some perks for remaining a bachelor all your life, but there are also several perks that come with commitment or marriage. Connect with Nature
The very first Jon Gordon email newsletter from October 28, 2002… Ever wonder why people love the beach, the mountains and places like Central Park in New York City. Because they are powerful sources of energy. Whether it’s the ocean air, the crashing waves, large trees or fields of green, when we visit these places we feel the positive energy of nature and it has a profound effect on our mind and body. My friend Deb says that she gets her energy from the beach. She once told me, “The sunlight reflecting off the water gives me energy…
Why forfeit possibility?
“You don’t want the weakest part of you running your life.” – Michael Singer There are dark recesses in ourselves. Recesses where fear lives. Fear of failure, lack of competency, of change, and even fear of success – and how it might change our lives. But fear is weak. Only you give it power. You give it power when you start running your life around fear. And you make all kinds of adjustments, and avoidances, and workarounds; and you forfeit possibility in the process. Why forfeit possibility? Why live your life around fear? See the fear, feel the fear, and move forward in spite of the fear. Only when you move forward do you enable your own power, …
Unchain Yourself from Conventional Thinking Myths
What if I said that conventional thinking is at best only a beginning, and often just leads to a dead end? Not only that, but what if I also said that it has a way of limiting our beliefs and closing our minds to the possibility of living an extraordinary life of true happiness. Why would I say such a thing? Because conventional thinking is based on widely accepted assumptions which may…
Spirituality Webinar: The Real Spiritual Awakening Signs
You've probably seen the lists out there. Everything from insomnia to changing social circles to hemorrhoids (probably) seem to now be a sign of a spiritual awakening. It is all rather absurd, and generally, it just fuels this new level of ego that thinks it is spiritual by giving it new ideas and reference points to justify itself. "Ah, yes. I haven't been sleeping and have been eating lots of kale too. I must be awakening!"But awakening…

Quotes of Wisdom: Aleister Crowley on Cause and Effect
We see then, that we can never affect anything outside ourselves save only as it is also within us. Whatever I do to another, I also do to myself. If I kill a man, I destroy my own life at the same time…Every vibration awakens all others of its particular pitch. ~ Aleister Crowley (Magick … Related posts: Quotes of Wisdom: Max Heindel on the Laws of Nature Quotes of Wisdom: Erich Fromm on the Self-Awareness of Man
Life 101
“Whatever got you where you are today is no longer sufficient to keep you there.” – Robert Miller Life moves fast. You must choose whether you will remain planted with what you have, and where you are, or move ahead with the rest of the world, move ahead with innovation and ideas. To stand still is to fall back, to become out of touch, to possess knowledge and skills and powers that are insufficient. To stand still is risking your relevancy to the world around you. Where do you stand today? The post Life 101 appeared first on Healthy Mind Heart Body.
Seeking Wisdom from Outside the Box
By the time I turned 22 I was living a lifestyle that seemed completely unrealistic to everyone I knew. I had abandoned my suburban roots and struck out on my own. I was now living deep in the forest of southern Oregon. I had stripped my life down to the absolute minimum so I could start over from scratch. I was now living without electricity or a telephone, and my only source of running water was the mountain creek that flowed past my tent. This was the…
Developing Conscious Relationships
I know that I haven't talked too much about relationships on this blog. Part of it has to do with the fact that most of us know so little about ourselves that that area must be the focus of our attention before we worry about what type of external relationships we want in our lives. The internal relationship with ourselves–how we live and treat ourselves–must be repaired first if we want to be able to genuinely and sincerely bring consciousness and love into our …

You do not need to seek out misery in either the most dire, or the very best, circumstances. Today, stand in the brilliant glow of self-responsibility. Refuse to think, speak or act like a
